As I reread “Life’s Stories” by Julie Beck, I didn’t really notice anything new. All I really focused in on was the facts of her justifying how people choose what’s known about them in their life stories. She mentioned how people can hide details of their life within a diary, but all that makes me wonder is, how well do we know the people we think we know? Do we really know anyone? I personally hide parts of myself from media or specific people, such as my managers or teachers or people I associate with but aren’t close to. Even though I hide parts of my life from some, there are others that know the depths of my life. They know how I feel about things, past traumas and anything I let them know. I am one to believe that when it comes to one’s story, the owner of the story has anywhere from full to almost all of the control over what is said and known about them. I believe that things can get out, but the majority of the time that happens, it’s because the person who that owns that information trusted someone that wasn’t worth their time.
